Getting started

Gatherby brings your household’s calendar, tasks, and lists together. This guide covers where to use it, what you’ll see, how your household works, and three first steps.

iPhone app and web browser

Your saved information syncs between the iPhone app and the web. Some features and settings differ between them.

iPhone app
Tabs for Tasks, Calendar, Lists, and Discover, with search, check-ins, and notifications at the top. Siri and Browse are iPhone only. Settings in the app covers the essentials; Full settings on the web opens the rest.
Web browser
Open gatherby.app/app on a computer or phone. On a computer, the board shows the week and your lists side by side. The complete set of settings is on the web.

What you’ll see

Your household

Everyone in your household sees the same tasks, calendar, and lists. The exception is a private list, which only its creator and the people they choose can see.

To invite someone from the iPhone app, open Settings → People and use Invite someone. Gatherby emails them a link and a join code; either one works.

Head of household
One person per household. The head of household can manage everyone’s connected accounts, manages billing on the web, and deleting their account deletes the whole household. To hand the role to someone else, the head of household opens Settings → People on the web and selects Make head next to that person.
Who can be assigned tasks
On the web, Settings → People has a Can be assigned tasks setting for each person. Turn it off for anyone, such as a young child, who shouldn’t receive tasks. Everyone still shares the calendar and lists.

Three first steps

  1. Add a task: anything on your mind. See Tasks.
  2. Open your Groceries list and add a couple of things. See Groceries.
  3. Connect your Google Calendar in Settings → Connected accounts and choose which of your calendars to show. The calendars you choose are visible to everyone in your household. Gatherby doesn’t change your Google events. See Connected accounts.
