Calendar
See your household’s selected calendars, tasks, trips, and events together. Each person’s calendars keep their own color, so you can tell whose plans are whose.
Connecting Google Calendar
Each person connects their own Google Calendar and chooses which of their calendars appear. The calendars you choose are visible to everyone in your household. You can connect more than one Google account, such as a personal and a work account.
- Open Settings → Connected accounts. On iPhone, tap Google & Todoist.
- Select Connect Google Calendar and sign in to your Google account.
- Choose which calendars to show. To add another account, select Add another account (iPhone) or Add another Google account (web).
Gatherby only reads your Google calendars. It doesn’t change your Google events. See Connected accounts to disconnect.
Reading the week
Select an event to open it:
- Time and place
- When and where. Select the location to open it in a maps app.
- Join a call
- A video meeting shows a link to join the call.
What Gatherby adds
Alongside your Google events, Gatherby shows entries for things it keeps track of. These appear only in Gatherby; your Google calendar isn’t changed.
- Tasks
- Tasks with due dates appear on their day. The ◷ Tasks toggle turns them all on or off.
- Events
- Events you’re hosting appear as a 🎉 entry on their day. See Events & RSVPs.
- Trips
- Each trip appears as one entry across the days you’re away. See Trips.
- Check-ins
- A 📍 entry where someone checked in, if check-ins are set to show on the calendar. See Check-ins.
- Public holidays
- Off by default. Turn them on and choose your country in Settings → Calendar.
Changing how a Google event appears
You can’t edit a Google event from Gatherby, but you can change how it appears in Gatherby. These changes apply for everyone in your household, and none of them are sent to Google.
- Open the event.
- Change the title, or add a note. The note stays in Gatherby, and everyone in your household can see it.
- To remove the event from Gatherby, select Delete (hide from board) on iPhone, Hide from board in a phone browser, or Delete on a computer.
- To undo your changes, select Reset to Google’s version on iPhone or Reset on the web.
To bring back a hidden event, open Settings → Calendar on the web and select Unhide under Hidden events. Hidden events are listed there for 30 days.
Subscribing from another calendar app
You can add your Gatherby calendar to Apple Calendar or Google Calendar as a read-only subscription. The feed includes:
- Upcoming events you’re hosting
- Check-ins from the last 90 days
- Due dates of open tasks set to show on the calendar
- Upcoming trips
- Calendar entries added in Gatherby, such as ones created from Quick notes
It doesn’t include your Google Calendar events, which are already in Google.
- On the web, open Settings → Calendar.
- Under Subscribe to your Gatherby calendar, select Add to calendar on iPhone, or select Copy URL and add it in Google Calendar under Other calendars → From URL.
