Connected accounts

Choose which calendars, tasks, and contacts to connect to Gatherby. Each person connects their own accounts, and each connection is optional.

Where to connect

Signing in to Gatherby with Google doesn’t connect your calendar, tasks, or contacts. Each one is a separate connection that asks Google for permission when you set it up.

What you can connect

Google Calendar
Read-only. Connect each Google account whose calendars you want, such as a personal and a work account, then choose which calendars appear. The calendars you choose are visible to everyone in your household. Gatherby shows your events and doesn’t change them. See Calendar.
Google Tasks
Two-way sync. Tasks you add or finish in either Google Tasks or Gatherby show up in both.
Google Contacts
Read-only. Gatherby uses your contacts to suggest names and email addresses when you invite people to an event.
Todoist
Two-way sync for the Todoist projects you choose. To connect, copy your API token from Todoist (Settings → Integrations → Developer), paste it into Gatherby, and select Connect. Then turn on each project you want to sync.

Apple Reminders (iPhone)

Gatherby can read one Reminders list on your iPhone and add its items to Gatherby as tasks. The sync is one-way: changes in Gatherby aren’t sent back to Reminders. It’s off by default, and it only syncs from the iPhone of the person who turned it on.

  1. In the Reminders app, create a list named “Gatherby.”
  2. In Gatherby on your iPhone, open Settings and, under Connected accounts, tap Apple Reminders.
  3. Turn on Sync Apple Reminders and allow access to Reminders when asked.
  4. Under List to sync, choose the “Gatherby” list.
  5. Optional: in your iPhone’s Settings, open Apps → Reminders → Default List and choose “Gatherby.” Then reminders you give Siri, such as “Remind me to buy milk,” land in Gatherby.

The list syncs when you open Gatherby and occasionally in the background. To sync right away, tap Sync now.

Siri (iPhone)

Siri doesn’t need any connection. Say “Add to Gatherby” (or “Capture in Gatherby” or “Note in Gatherby”). Siri asks what to add, then Gatherby files it as a task, a grocery item, or an appointment and tells you which. “Share to Gatherby” also works.

Connecting for someone else

On the web, the head of household sees everyone’s connections in Settings → Connected accounts and can start a connection for another member. The connection still needs that member’s own account: they, or someone with their permission, sign in to their Google account or provide their Todoist token. Other members can only connect their own accounts.

Disconnecting

Disconnecting deletes Gatherby’s stored authorization for that account, so it stops syncing. If you don’t want tasks that came from it, delete them in Gatherby. You can also remove Gatherby’s access from your Google account’s security settings.

Applies to the iPhone app and the web, except where noted. Reviewed October 26, 2026.
