Settings
Manage your household, connected accounts, preferences, and subscription.
iPhone app or web
- iPhone app
- Settings has the essentials: Subscription, Delete account, Appearance, Connected accounts, Household (General, People, Add-ons, Invite friends), Hidden lists, task Tags, Snoozed, Task history, and Calendar. Full settings on the web opens the rest.
- Web
- Settings has the complete set, grouped into Household (General, People, Connected accounts, Social & sharing, and Billing for the head of household), Calendar, To-dos, Lists, and Trips.
Your household and home
- Household name
- The name Gatherby uses for your household. Set it in Settings → General.
- Home location
- Sets the default weather on your board and focuses restaurant lookups on your area. Set it in Settings → General.
- People
- Invite the rest of your household, approve requests to join, and see who’s a member, in Settings → People. On the web, you can also choose who Can be assigned tasks.
- Head of household
- One person per household. The head of household can manage everyone’s connected accounts, sees Billing on the web, and deleting their account deletes the whole household. To transfer the role, the head of household opens Settings → People on the web and selects Make head next to another member.
Calendar
- Public holidays
- Show your country’s public holidays on the calendar. Off by default.
- Calendar view (iPhone)
- Choose whether the Calendar tab opens as a grid or an agenda list.
- Hidden events (web)
- Events you’ve hidden from Gatherby, so you can unhide them. Hidden events are listed for 30 days.
- Subscribe to your Gatherby calendar (web)
- A private, read-only feed you can add to Apple or Google Calendar. See Calendar.
Lists, tags, and check-ins
- Tags label tasks. Item categories and Item tags (web) organize list items, such as the aisles on your grocery list.
- Hidden lists brings back a list you’ve hidden from the Lists screen.
- Check-ins (in Settings → General on iPhone) control whether new food places you check in to are added to your restaurants list, whether check-ins appear on the calendar, and whether your iPhone suggests a check-in when you arrive somewhere.
Discover and sharing
- Show Discover
- In Settings → General. Turn it off to hide the Discover tab and stop posting. Your household won’t appear to other households. Nothing is deleted, so turning it back on restores what you had.
- Social & sharing (web)
- Choose which kinds of things you can post to Discover, whether your activity counts toward anonymous trends, and whether you appear by your household name, a pseudonym, or anonymously. See Discover & Browse.
Your subscription
Every new household gets a 30-day free trial from sign-up, with everything turned on, including Wines. No payment details are needed for the trial. After that, Gatherby is $5 a month or $50 a year (USD) for the whole household.
- In the iPhone app, open Settings → Subscription.
- Choose monthly or yearly and confirm with your Apple Account.
You can only subscribe in the iPhone app. The website can’t take payment.
- Subscribing during the trial
- Billing starts the day you subscribe, even if trial days remain.
- One plan, whole household
- One person subscribes and everyone in the household is covered, on the iPhone app and the web.
- Restore purchases
- New phone? Open Settings → Subscription and tap Restore purchases.
- Canceling
- On your iPhone, open Settings → your name → Subscriptions, choose Gatherby, and cancel. Your subscription stays on until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Apple’s instructions: Cancel a subscription from Apple.
- After the trial without a subscription
- Nothing is deleted. Gatherby becomes read-only: you can still see what you saved, and you can subscribe to add or change things.
The Wines add-on
Groceries, Shopping, Packing, Recipes, Restaurants, Reading, To Watch, custom lists, Trips, and Events are included with Gatherby. The one add-on is Wines, $3 a month on top of your plan, billed monthly through the App Store. It covers your whole household.
- In the iPhone app, go to the bottom of the Lists tab and find More for your household, or open Settings → Add-ons.
- Tap Wines and subscribe.
If the Wines add-on ends, your Wines list and everything on it stay. Scanning labels and adding to Wines need the add-on. Cancel it the same way as your plan, in your iPhone’s Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
Deleting your account
- In the iPhone app, open Settings → Delete account. On the web, open Settings → General and go to Delete account.
- Read what will be deleted, type DELETE, and confirm.
- If you’re the head of household
- This deletes the whole household and all its data for every member: every list, task, event, photo, and connected account.
- If you’re any other member
- This deletes your account and your personal data. What you added to shared lists stays with your household.
Deleting can’t be undone.
Applies to the iPhone app and the web, except where noted. Reviewed October 26, 2026.
