Wines, beer & spirits
Identify wine, beer, and spirits from a label photo, then keep ratings and notes.
Adding a bottle
- 📷 Photograph the label. Gatherby reads the producer, vintage, and type, then looks up the rest. The photo is sent to our AI provider to read it.
- Type the name if you prefer.
If Gatherby can’t identify a bottle, it’s still added with the name it read. Open the card, correct the name if needed, and select ✨ Refresh lookup to try again.
What’s on the card
- Region and grape
- Where it’s from and what it’s made of. Grape applies to wine; a beer shows its style instead. The list groups bottles by type (Red, White, Rosé, and so on).
- Scores
- A community rating from Vivino for wine, Untappd for beer, or Distiller for spirits, plus critic scores when found.
- Drink window and ABV
- When a wine is expected to drink best, where known, and how strong it is.
- How you came across it
- Select a chip, such as Gift, Restaurant, or Wine shop, to record where a bottle came from. Add a note if you like.
To try and Tried
Checking a bottle off marks it as tried. It saves the date and moves the bottle to the Tried view. You can also select 🍷 Mark as tried on the card. The filter at the top switches between:
- To try
- Bottles you haven’t opened yet. This is the default view.
- Tried
- Bottles you’ve tried.
- All
- Every bottle on the list.
The iPhone app also has a Cellar view.
Your reviews
Each adult can leave their own stars and a written note on a bottle. Everyone in the household can see them, and you can edit yours at any time.
Had it at a restaurant?
You can link a wine to the restaurant where you drank it. The bottle’s card links to the restaurant, and the restaurant’s card lists the wines you had there.
Sharing a bottle
Select 📤 Share this card to create a web page for the bottle that you can send to a friend. It shows the label, region and grape, scores, drink window, and your household’s notes with each reviewer’s name. Anyone with the link can see it. If the recipient uses Gatherby, they can add the bottle to their own list.
