Shopping lists
Keep lists for purchases and gift ideas. Share a list with your household or keep it private.
Making a Shopping list
- On the Lists screen, select New.
- Choose Shopping as the type and give the list a name, such as “For the house”, “Back to school”, or “Gift ideas”.
- To keep the list to yourself, turn on Private. Otherwise everyone in your household can see it.
- Select Create.
Gift ideas
Use a private Shopping list for presents. Other members of your household can’t see a private list, so a surprise stays a surprise. Group ideas by who they’re for, and check each one off once you’ve bought it.
A private list can’t be shared with a public link.
Share a private list with someone
You can let particular people in your household see a private list you made. Everyone else still can’t see it.
- Open the private list.
- On a computer, select the names next to 🔒 Private. In a phone browser, tap the 🔒 line under the title, then tap each person. On iPhone (in the next app update), tap the 🔒 line, then turn on each person.
- To stop sharing with someone, select their name again.
Only the person who made the list can change who sees it. Someone you share with gets a notification and sees “Private list shared with you.”
Adding items
- Type it, for example “rain boots, size 2”.
- 📷 Add a photo of something in a store. Gatherby can read product details and visible prices from a photo, and it keeps your photo on the card. The photo is sent to our AI provider to read it.
- Share a product link from a store’s website or app. The item is added with a short description.
Buying online
Items can show a 🛒 Find on Amazon link. It usually opens an Amazon search for the item’s name, so check that the result is the product you want.
As an Amazon Associate, Gatherby earns from qualifying purchases.
Checking items off
Check an item off when you’ve bought it. A shared Shopping list has the same Reset and Mark complete controls as your Groceries list, so you can run it again. When you’re done with a list, select Finish & archive this list on the web.
