Packing

Reuse a packing checklist for each trip. Check items off as you pack and set aside anything you won’t need.

Set up your packing list

  1. Open your Packing list from the Lists screen. If you don’t have one, select New, choose Packing, name the list, and select Create.
  2. Add the things you usually bring, such as chargers, toothbrushes, and sunscreen.

To start from a ready-made list instead, select New, then Ready-made lists, and pick a packing list.

Prepare a packing list

Before each trip:

  1. Select ↺ Reset so every item starts unchecked.
  2. Mark anything you’re not taking this time as − Not this trip. On the web, click − on the item. On iPhone, swipe left and tap Not needed.
  3. Add anything special for this trip, such as hiking boots or a passport.
  4. Check items off ✓ as they go in the bag.
Not this trip doesn’t delete: Setting an item aside for a trip doesn’t remove it. It stays on your list for the next time you pack.

While you pack

✓ Packed
Select the circle as each item goes in.
− Not this trip
Sets aside anything you’re leaving at home this time.
Assign to a person
Give an item to someone, such as “you grab the beach towels”. It shows up in their tasks, so packing is shared.
📷 Add a photo
Photograph something you want to remember to bring, and it’s added to the list.

Reset and Reload

↺ Reset
Unchecks every item and clears Not this trip marks and assignments. Every item stays on the list, including anything you added for one trip, so remove those if you don’t want them next time.
⤓ Reload from template
Appears only on a list made from a template. It erases the current list, including items you added by hand, and refills it from the template. Gatherby asks you to confirm first.

Items you add or remove on your packing list stay that way for future trips. To change a template, open Settings → Lists → Templates on the web.

Tip: Keep a separate packing list for each kind of trip if it helps, such as “Beach weekend”, “Ski trip”, or “Lake house”.
